River Birch Candles was founded on the belief that not all candles were created equal. Today, this belief has inspired them to go beyond the creation of natural, economically-driven products. For each candle purchased, they donate a meal to an individual experiencing homelessness in their home of Texas.
Shane and Erica Washington are high school sweethearts, who connected over the fact that they are both die-hard candle lovers. When they discovered that most candles were toxic to them and their cat Fannie Farmer and dog Timmy, they decided to take action.
They worked tirelessly to create a product founded in natural materials that didn’t lose the scent of their big candle company competitors. It was a challenge to develop an all-natural candle that would cover odors while still filling a room with fragrance.
After a year of collaboration with expert perfumers and commitment to crafting a completely safe and toxin-free product; River Birch Candles found its home in 100% soy wax, natural fragrances, and cotton wicks that have become a staple in the brand today.
But Shane and Erica knew that their passion didn’t end with a safe product that they are proud to share with their friends and family. Making a difference is embedded in their core beliefs. So when they discovered that more than 25,300 people are sleeping on the streets of Texas on any given night, they knew they had to do something to help solve the crisis.
Today, the River Birch Candle family is proud to help feed those in need and support changes in legislation that help solve the growing number of homeless individuals and families in their home state of Texas by partnering with a local charity, The Stewpot, and Feeding America.
When you purchase a River Birch Candle, you aren’t just purchasing a completely safe and toxin-free product for your family and pets, you are allowing a mother, father, or child to eat for another day.
