Texas Homeless Project

Hope for the Homeless

It is a sad fact the homeless population in the US, continues to rise. Here in the Dallas, TX area, the last count of the homeless population showed the number of people living on the street is up 23%.  Signs of the city's growing homeless population are everywhere. Small encampments are in pockets all over the city, like the one under I-45 next to Deep Ellum. When the city clears out homeless encampments, new ones pop up in other places.   According to the 2017 Beyond ABC report published by Children's Health, homelessness among children is steadily increasing in Dallas, Cooke, Denton and Fannin counties.  It is obvious that more needs to be done in the Dallas area to find additional shelter, food and resources to help the homeless.

We know where the hungry and homeless are in our city, so while our government works on addressing the root causes, we at River Birch Candles want to be part of the immediate solution to eliminate hunger in Dallas. We donate one meal to individuals experiencing homelessness for each candle sold. We personally deliver these meals and treat each person with the dignity that they deserve.

Call us crazy, but our goal is to serve 10,000 home cooked meals to those in need!

If you are interested in helping us prepare or hand out food, please contact us. We need any help we can get!

Thanks for your support
